THE PROBLEM
Tampa Bay leads the state in the number of children in foster care. There are over 5,000 children in the foster care system and sadly 50% of foster families quit after the first year. Over 50% of those who have been incarcerated, are victims of human trafficking and who have experienced homelessness were in foster care.
OUR APPROACH
A complex problem requires a collaborative approach. We strongly believe every child should be surrounded by family, that families thrive when they are surrounded by the local church, and most importantly children and families lives are immensely impacted when the church is supported by the community.
ITS WORKING
Each year a church is able to support 80 kids. We are currently serving 1,800 kids annually. 90% of foster families supported by Florida 1.27 continue after 1 year!
Florida 1.27 is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the law and made with the understanding that Florida 1.27 has full discretion over the use of all funds.
